New boxes

I built some new plyo boxes. Aren’t they beautiful and functional. Get it. Functional training. Eh..
Yes, I am finally adding some plyometrics back into my workouts. Skaters side to side over the small box, or power step ups. These are great additions to a circuit or interval routine. Depth jumps and power chins are all [...]

Going fast again

Back at the track for about 6 weeks. Had a knee issue for a while in the spring.
I have been working on running fast as I can. It feels great. It trains my legs nothing else, especially my hammys. And it keeps my body fat low. Usually do some active warmup, lunges and leg swings. [...]

Get outside this week!

It snowed this morning again. BUT, this week the word is temps in the 50s. Whoa.
Let’s get out into the outdoors and run, jump and breathe. No more stale air and stale recession chatter. Life is good. Let’s enjoy it. See you outside.

What is your excuse?

What is your favorite excuse?
Is there really a reason you can’t eat properly or exercise regularly?
Here are some of my favorite excuses. These are the ones I hear every day. I may have even used one of these myself.
I don’t have time. (You haven’t made time. Is your health more important?)
I love the taste of [...]

How much quality do you need?

Lots of questions today. Not looking for answers as much as I am looking for the right questions.
When you workout, what is your expectation for quality, what constitutes quality? Do your expectations change from day to day? Today are you looking for stress relief, tomorrow a serious beatdown which leaves you walking with muscle soreness?
Do [...]

Please Help!

See this story on MSNBC. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19845784/
Experts are predicting that 75% of Americans will be overweight by 2015. Is that crazy or what? Have we become so lazy?
Let’s get to work. Work out and eat better. That is all.

Summer is here

There have been a lot of 80° days lately. You need to get outside for some interesting cardio. Get away from the treadmill. Get onto a bike. Go to the track.
Here is what to do at the track. Jog a couple of laps to warm up. Then run half the straightaway as fast as [...]

How long is it going to take?

I work with a lot of people from all walks of life, interesting people. It makes my job easier. Most want to know how long is it going to take? (To lose 20 lbs. or to tone up or whatever their individual goal is.) We all want to know how quickly can I get there?
The [...]
